Benjamin T. Motycka
Benjamin T. Motycka, 57, of Convoy, died at 7:03 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2013, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was born February 17, 1956, in Van Wert, the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Hunter) Motycka.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Ann (Jerry) Helm of Convoy, Kay (Alan) Brandt of Rockford, Robert R. Motycka and Phil (Rachel) Motycka, both of Van Wert, and Larry (Kathy) Motycka, John (Rosemarie) Motycka and Chris (Pam) Motycka, all of Convoy. He was loved and will be missed by his 13 nieces, 12 nephews, 17 great-nieces, and 23 great-nephews.
A brother, Joe Motycka; one sister, Arlene Motycka; and a brother-in-law, Roy Thompson III, also preceded him in death.
Ben was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, and the state champion Thomas Edison Tigers. He had also participated in the Special Olympics for many years while at Thomas Edison. He was an avid sports fan, including pro wrestling, a lifelong Elvis Presley fan and, most recently a fan of Brent Cooper’s “Memories of the King.”
Over the past several years, Ann and Jerry Helm and John and Rosemarie Motycka had served as his caregivers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 7, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Father Stan Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, where a Rosary will be recited at 8 that evening.
Preferred memorials: Thomas Edison Endowment Fund.
