County outdoorsmen plan turkey shoot

MIDDLE POINT — Just a reminder that the Van Wert County Outdoorsmen Association will hold a turkey shoot on Sunday, November 17, starting at 2 p.m.  The event is open to the public and limited to 12 gauge shotguns, although women and youngsters 15 and under may use a 20-gauge shotgun. There will also be loaner 20-gauge shotguns women and youths under 15. Shells will be provided at a cost of $2 per shell.

Shooters compete for various prizes, such as frozen turkeys and hams, by attempting to place a single shot closest to the center of a target.

The Van Wert County Outdoorsmen Association is a non-profit organization and is a “Friends of the NRA” affiliate club. Its mission is to increase the knowledge and practice of hunting skills, marksmanship and other outdoor recreation skills in harmony with the sports of hunting and fishing.
