Mercer County Sheriff’s Office information
CELINA — A Portland, Ind., man was killed Tuesday morning as a result of a semi-car accident that occurred west of Celina on Friday morning.
Ronald Albers, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at the intersection of Ohio 29 and Ohio 118.
Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reported that his dispatch received several 9-1-1 calls at 6:08 a.m. Tuesday concerning the accident, which occurred when a 2011 Freightliner semi tractor-trailer rig driven south on 118 by Robert Riley, 54, of Fort Jennings, apparently failed to stop for the stop sign at Ohio 29 and was hit by Albers’ 2002 Hyundai, which was southbound on Ohio 29.
After hitting the semi, Albers’ Hyundai then struck a 2007 Toyota truck driven by Abraham Timmerman, 39, of Fort Recovery, which was stopped at the stop sign at Burkettsville-St. Henry Road.
The crash remains under investigation.
