Lancer girls lose game to Wayne Trace

HAVILAND — The Wayne Trace Lady Raiders outscored the Lincolnview girls in all four quarters, although not by much in any one quarter, to win 60-47 in a non-conference game played Monday at Wayne Trace.
The Raiders were up by a basket, 10-8, in the first quarter and led by five, 26-21, at the half. A 22-15 run in the third quarter put Wayne Trace ahead by 12 heading into the final stanza, which was also won by the Raiders 12-11 for the final score.
Wayne Trace was led by Silvia Young’s 20 points, while Lauren Speice scored 14 points for the Lady Raiders and Brenda Feasby added 9 points. Lincolnview had four players in double figures, led by Hannah McCleery’s 13 points. Christine Stemen added 12 points, while Ashton Bowersock and Julia Thatcher each scored 10 points for the Lady Lancers.
Lincolnview was 20 of 52 from the field (38.5 percent), but hit only 4 of 14 three-point attempts (28.6 percent). The Raiders made 25 of 51 field goal attempts (49 percent), including 1 of 5 from three-point range (20 percent). The Lancers were 5 of 9 from the free-throw line (55.6 percent), while Wayne Trace made 9 of 12 at the charity stripe (75 percent).
Rebounding was a key in the game, the taller Raiders dominated that statistic, 34-13. Lincolnview had fewer turnovers, 13-15.
