Lady Knights get win over Delphos Jeff

Crestview girls’ basketball

CONVOY — A 16-3 run in the third quarter proved to be the nail in the coffin for Delphos Jefferson as the Crestview Lady Knights downed the Wildcats 52-21 in Northwest Conference play.

Delphos trailed by just 8 points going into the second half as Crestview was mired in foul trouble the first half. But sophomore center Emily Bauer notched nine of her game-high 16 points in the third stanza to spark the Lady Knight rally.

In addition to Bauer’s 16 points and 11 rebounds, Mackenzie Riggenbach added 9 points while Terra Crowle and Lindsey Motycka added 8 points for the Lady Knights. Overall, Crestview was 20 for 47 (43 percent) from the field, including five three-point field goals.

Jefferson managed just 12 for 34 shooting (35 percent) from the field.

With the win, Crestview moves to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the NWC. The Knights will travel to Kalida this Saturday for a non-conference tilt that starts at 1 p.m.

Crestview also won the junior varsity contest, 33-13, and moves to 5-2 on the year.
