Lady Lancers lose NWC game to Bluffton

BLUFFTON — The Lincolnview Lady Lancers were defeated by Bluffton, 52-42, in a Northwest Conference girls’ basketball game played Thursday at Bluffton.
Both teams were even at the end of the first period at 9-all, but the Lady Pirates went on a 16-4 run in the second quarter to lead by 12, 25-13, at the half.
The Lancers made it a game with a 16-10 run in the third quarter, to draw within six points, 35-29, at the end of the third quarter, but Bluffton did enough down the stretch to eke out the victory.
Julia Thatcher scored 18 points for Lincolnview to lead all scorers, while Ashton Bowersock added 12 points for the Lady Lancers. Sarah Schriner was Bluffton’s top scorer, with 17 points, while Olivia Hunt added 12 points for the Lady Pirates.
Both teams were about even on field goals, with Lincolnview making 18 of 46 (39.1 percent) and the Pirates 16 of 42 (38.1 percent) from the field. The Lancers made 3 of 7 from the free throw line (42.9 percent), while Bluffton was 14 of 23 (60.9 percent) from the charity stripe.
The Pirates had the edge in rebounding, 25-21, while Lincolnview had one fewer turnover, 19-20, than Bluffton.
