Eva Hartman

Eva Hartman, 104, died at 9:18 a.m. Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

She was born January 1, 1909, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Adam and Susanna Palmer. On June 22, 1937, she married Charles “Chod” Hartman, who preceded her in death on August 5, 1980.

Survivors include a nephew, Alan Palmer of both Tennessee and Florida.

Two sisters, Flo Owens and Ruth Langdon; and a brother, Vaughn Palmer, also preceded her in death.

Eva was a graduate of the former Ridge High School and Van Wert County Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at Van Wert County Hospital as obstetrical supervisor from 1933 until her retirement in 1973. She had been an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church in rural Van Wert County.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Monday, December 30, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Greg Wack officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 10 a.m.-noon on Monday at the funeral home.
