Crestview girls dominate Lady Aces

CONVOY — Crestview overcame a slow offensive start and used defensive pressure and offensive rebounding to down Hicksville 63-29 in non-conference girls’ basketball action Monday night.

Crestview dominated the glass, gathering 14 offensive rebounds that led to 30 more field goal attempts. The Lady Knights’ defense forced Hicksville into 25 miscues as well. Hicksville had 16 rebounds, including four offensive boards. Crestview had 10 fewer turnovers (15-25) than the Lady Aces.

Leading Crestview offensively was sophomore Emily Bauer, who scored 18 points on the night. Juniors Terra Crowle and Lindsey Motycka added 12 and 9 points, respectively.

The Lady Knights were 16 of 30 from the field (53.3 percent), including 7 of 25 from three-point range (28 percent). Crestview was also deadly at the free-throw line, knocking down 10 of 13 (76.9 percent) on the night.

Hicksville was 9 of 22 from the field (40.9 percent), including 1 of 3 three-point attempts (33.3 percent), and made 8 of 19 free-throw attempts (42.1 percent).

With the win, Crestview moves to 7-1 on the year and will be in action again Monday, January 6, at Continental. Junior varsity game will begin at 6 p.m.

Crestview JVs were also victorious over Hicksville by a score of 32-15.
