Pole hit on Washington

This power pole was hit by a semi that tried to straighten the curve at the intersection of Webster Avenue and Washington Street in front of Central Insurance Company. The downed pole caused a power outage in that area of the city, while the street was also closed for several hours until the pole could be replaced and power restored. Blowing and drifting snow will make driving hazardous today, while snowplows were pulled from county roads Sunday night because of the weather conditions. Both the Van Wert and Paulding County sheriffs have issued snow emergencies warning drivers to stay off the roads unless it’s an emergency. (Dave Mosier/Van Wert independent)
