Richard I. Hurless

Richard I. Hurless, 83, of Van Wert, died at 12:55 a.m. Sunday, January 5, 2014, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born September 28, 1930, in Mercer County, the son of the late Alva Doyt and Olive Irene (Hunter) Hurless. On October 29, 1950, he married Gloria (Young) Hurless, who survives.

Other survivors include three daughters, Deborah (Larry) Niederkohr of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Pamela J. (W. Denney) Kerns and Sandra (Gregg) Bashore, both of Van Wert; a son, Randolph Wayne (Etta) Hurless of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Mel (Arlene) Hurless of Van Wert; a sister-in-law, Wanda Hurless of Ohio City; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A sister, Virginia Ruth Barnhart; and one brother, Rex I. Hurless, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 10, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Clark Williman officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
