Marion Ortega

Marion Ortega of Van Wert died Sunday, December 15, 2013, at his residence.

He was born May 21, 1938, in Venedocia, the son of the late Hilario and Helen (Hernandez) Ortega. He was never married.

Survivors include three brothers, John (Karen) Ortega of Vandalia, David (Sherry) Ortega of Ashley, Ind., and Hilario (Nancy) Ortega of Fort Wayne, Ind.; six sisters, Inez Ruiz of Toledo, Esther Golden of Lima, Delores (Fabian) Canales of Van Wert, and Mary Ochoa, Shirley Ortega and Thedora (Jorge) Guerrero, all of Fort Wayne, Ind.

A sister, Thelma Chavarria; and one brother, Joseph Ortega, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Ortega was employed for a time at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne and at the Van Wert County Council on Aging in Van Wert. He volunteered at The Salvation Army, Council on Aging and Trinity Friends Church, of which he was a member, as well as other organizations in Van Wert.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 12, at Trinity Friends Church. Following the service, there will be a meal at the church.

Calling hours are from 2 p.m. until the time of services on Saturday at the church.
