The Elks Hoop Shoot District Contest was held this past weekend at the University of Findlay’s Croy Gymnasium.  Six winners from the local hoop shoot competed against other local winners from the Northwest Ohio region.

In the girls’ 8-9 year old division, Laci McCoy finished in third place by sinking 12 of 25 free throws. Kendall Bollenbacher finished in sixth place in the 10-11 year old division by making 10 baskets. In the 12-13 year old division, Avery McCoy followed her sister’s lead by also placing third in her division making 15 baskets. Both McCoy sisters won gym bags for their third place scores.

In the boys 12-13 year old division, Wade Sheets made 20 free throws, which was good enough to earn a third place finish and a gym bag.  Landon Price finished in sixth place in the 10-11 year old division by making 13 buckets. Preston Kreischer also made 13 buckets in the 8-9 year old division, which placed him seventh overall.

“I was very pleased with the way our local youth competed at the District Hoop Shoot,” said Chuck Rollins, Van Wert Elks Hoop Shoot director. “There were about 15 shooters on average in each division from all over the region. To have half of our shooters finish in the top three in their age groups was fantastic.”
