Ray Tinnel
Ray Tinnel, 76, of Convoy, died at 12:20 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born March 27, 1937, in Union County, Tenn., the son of the late Roscoe and Leona Tinnel. On May 12, 1958, he married Diane (Jones) Tinnel, who survives in Convoy.
Other survivors include five children, Brian (Julie Heath) Tinnel and Denise (Steve) Frey, both of Van Wert, Laura
(LeRoy) Lyons of Ohio City and Gary (Cindy) Tinnel and Dan (Jan Edwards) Tinnel, both of Convoy; two brothers, Clyde (Joan) Tinnel and Donnie (Suzy) Tinnel; four sisters, Juanita Rayfield, Wilma (Ken) Worthley, Joyce Hakes and Betty Wallis; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, J.T. Tinnel and Floyd Tinnel; and a sister, Sadie Baker-Gould, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Tinnel retired as associate dean of the University of Northwestern Ohio in Lima. He had also previously worked at Chrysler Amplex in Van Wert.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, was a member of the Convoy Lions Club and American Legion Post 178 in Van Wert. He was a 1956 graduate of Van Wert High School.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, at Gearhart-Jurczyk Funeral Home in Convoy, with the Rev. Gerald Baker officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, at the funeral home.
