DELPHOS — The Crestview Lady Knights continued their winning ways, downing Delphos St. John’s 45-32 in a non-conference game played Saturday at Delphos.

St. John’s took the early lead and was up 9-5 at the end of a defense-heavy first quarter. The game was tied at 17 all at the half, though, as the Lady Knights went on a 12-8 run in the second period. The score was still close at the end of three quarters, with Crestview leading by a point, 26-25, heading into the final stanza.

But the Knights went on a tear to end the game, outscoring St. John’s 19-7 in the fourth quarter to get the win.

Crestview had three players in double figures, led by Emily Bauer’s 14 points. Lindsey Motycka added 13 points, while Mackenzie Riggenbach scored 10 points for the Knights. Jessica Geise was the only Blue Jays player in double figures, with 11 points on the night.

Crestview made 14 of 31 from the field (45 percent), but free throw shooting was the key to game, as the Knights canned 17 of 20 from the line. Delphos made 11 of 33 field goal attempts, including 3 of 8 from three-point range, and was 7 of 11 from the line.

Rebounding went to the Knights, who brought down 17 caroms to 13 for the Lady ‘Jays. Crestview also had more turnovers, though, 22-19.

With the win, the Knights are now 11-1 on the year, while St. John’s is 4-10 overall.
