Lady Lancers lose to Kalida girls

Lady Lancers Julia Thatcher and Ashton Bowersock scored 20 and 16 points, respectively, but only two other Lincolnview players scored as the Lancers lost to Kalida 56-48 in a non-conference girls’ basketball game.

The Lady Wildcats had six players in the scoring column, led by Joni Kaufman’s 16 points, while Nicole Recker added 13 points for Kalida.

The Wildcats got out to a six-point lead, 20-14, in the first quarter and led by that amount at the half, 28-22. The Kalida lead went to 10 points in the third quarter on a 13-9 run by the Wildcats, but Lincolnview rallied a bit in the final stanza to get the point spread to eight at the final buzzer.

The Lancers shot 35 percent from the field (17 of 48) – including 23 percent (4 of 17) from three-point range. Lincolnview hit 10 of 15 free throw attempts (67 percent).

Kalida was hot from the field, making 17 of 30 field goal attempts (56 percent) and a third of the Wildcats’ three-point attempts (3 of 9). Kalida was 19 of 26 (73 percent) at the free throw line.

The Wildcats also had the edge in rebounding, 22-19, but also made more turnovers, 13-8, than Lincolnview.
