2 killed Sunday in Defiance County crash

DEFIANCE — A double-fatality traffic accident occurred Sunday at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Ohio 66 north of Banner School Road in Tiffin Township, Defiance County.
According to investigating troopers from the Defiance Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 2002 Jeep Wrangler was headed south on Ohio 66 when the driver lost control and went left of center. The Jeep was then struck broadside by a northbound 2004 Chevy 2500 pickup truck. Both vehicles came to rest off of the east side of the roadway.
The driver of the Jeep, Lucas J. Carnahan, 25, and his passenger Constance M. Gray, 23, both of Defiance, were killed in the crash. The driver of the Chevy pickup, Bradley E. Bodenbender, 20, of Bryan, received minor injuries and was transported to Defiance Regional Hospital by the Tiffin Township EMS.
Carnahan was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash, while Gray and Bodenbender were wearing safety belts. The crash remains under investigation by the Defiance OSHP Post.
Assistance at the scene was provided by the Defiance County Sheriff’s Office, Defiance County Coroner’s Office, Tiffin Township Fire Department and Schaffer Funeral Home.
