Donations needed to finish rabbit barn

Van Wert youth rabbit exhibitors, and the Rabbit Barn Committee are asking for area residents’ help.  Through raffles, 50/50 drawings, dinners, bake sales, and donations, enough money has been raised to build a new rabbit barn and pay for state permits for the structure on the Van Wert County Fairgrounds.

Rabbit exhibitors are now focusing on the inside of the building, including electrical work, plumbing, framing to hold cages, sanitation, walkways, floor, and some new cages.

Rabbit exhibitors and the Rabbit Barn Committee are challenging the families of anyone who has showed rabbits at the fair in the past or anyone who enjoys visiting the rabbits at the Van Wert County Fair to donate $100, or whatever they can afford to this rabbit barn project.

The goal is to have the new rabbit barn in place for the 2014 fair, and exhibitors hope to have finances in place by April 1 of this year.

Donations can be made in honor of, in memory of, or in the name of an individual or organization. In addition, donors will be recognized on a permanent display in the following tier: Bronze Level — over $100, Silver Level — over $500, Gold Level — over $1,000, and Platinum Level — over $5,000.
