VW Patrol trooper promoted to sergeant

COLUMBUS — Trooper Shawn D. Cook was promoted to the rank of sergeant Thursday by Colonel Paul A. Pride, Patrol superintendent, during a ceremony at the Patrol’s Academy. Sgt. Cook will remain at his current assignment at the Van Wert Post to serve as an assistant post commander.
Sgt. Cook began his Patrol career in September 2003 as a member of the 141st Academy Class. He earned his commission in March of the following year and was assigned to the Defiance Post. In 2005, he transferred to his most recent assignment at the Van Wert Post.
Sgt. Cook earned the Criminal Patrol Award in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2011and 2012; he was selected as Post “Trooper of the Year” in 2006, 2007, 2010 and Post and District “Trooper of the Year” in 2011. In 2012, he earned the Ace Award for excellence in auto larceny enforcement and he was selected as Post, District and State “Trooper of the Year”.
