Putt Around VW contest winners named

The Van Wert Community Club is pleased to announce the winners of this year’s Putt Around Van Wert held this past Saturday.  Top honors go out to first place team members Adam Brehm, Tony

Honigford, Scott Eickholt, and Jordan Gibby.  Second place went to the Salty Dogs team of Salty Waltmire, Dave Young, Dick Bowman, and Rick Waltmire.

A tie for third place resulted in a playoff, with team King Thatcher members Austin Miller, Kory Thatcher, Kyle Thatcher, and Matt Evans clenching the prize. All three teams generously donated all of their prize money back to the club.

Proceeds from this year’s earnings will be used for projects involving Van Wert youth.

The club thanks all the golfers who braved the winter weather and the participating businesses who offered goodie bags, prizes, and donations of their own and designed and built the holes unique to their organization:  Fricker’s, Sears, Van Wert Bedrooms, Lee Kinstle GM Sales & Service, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, StateWide Ford, Kennedy-Kuhn, Elks Lodge 1197, and Black Swamp Bistro.

While competition was fierce for the top scoring teams, it was also a close race for the best designed Putt Putt hole, but, in the end, Elks Lodge 1197 emerged victorious for a second year.
