Vantage board meets briefly for February

DAVE MOSIER/independent editor

The Vantage Board of Education may have set a record for the shortest regular school board meeting on record, taking just 13 minutes to take care of a short list of items during its February meeting on Thursday.

Vantage Treasurer Lori Davis gave the board an update on energy savings seen from the school’s solar array, noting that the district has saved more than $17,500 in energy costs by using solar power generated by the array.

Davis also noted that a $5,300 grant was awarded to Vantage to help pay the salaries of Vantage teacher’s aides.

The board also approved employing Shawn Cook as an Adult Education worker for the Vantage Police Academy.

Superintendent Staci Kaufman, citing the fact that Vantage has only had about two weeks of classes since the last board meeting, had no other information to pass along to the board.
