F. Eugene Bagley, 80, of Colon, Mich., and formerly of Van Wert, died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2014, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Mich.

He was born April 30, 1933, in Van Wert, the son of Helen M. (Bricker) Bagley, who survives in Van Wert, and the late Floyd Everett Bagley. On May 18, 1952, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert, he married Joanne (Edwards) Bagley, who also survives at their residence.

Other survivors include three sons, David E. (Susan) Bagley of Antwerp, Stephen K. (Nina) Bagley of Columbus and Ric R. (Debra) Bagley of Elida; two brothers, James D. (Sara) Bagley of Sarasota, Fla., and Ronald R. (Linda) Bagley of Van Wert; three sisters, J. Coleen (Ray) Etzler and Diane (Larry) Webb, both of Van Wert, and Janelle (Paul Leslie) Boroff of Chandler, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Trisha (James) Fuller, Ashley (Calvin) Bissell, Ryan (Kayla) Bagley and Justin Bagley and Kelsey Bagley; and seven great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Camden and Brayden Fuller, Briley, Hudsyn and Carter Bagley and Conley Bissell.

Mr. Bagley was retired from Federal-Mogul Corporation in Van Wert and farming. He was a member of Colon United Methodist Church.

He served on Van Wert City Council for 22 years, from 1970-1992, and was mayor of Van Wert from 1992-1999. He was a former member of Van Wert Rotary Club, the former Van Wert Men’s Garden Club (now Gardeners of Van Wert County) and Willow Bend Country Club in Van Wert.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, February 14, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert, with Pastor W. Clark Williman officiating.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, February 13, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
