Cancellations have been a big issue this year with all the winter weather we have been having lately. The state has moved to give Ohio schools extra calamity days. With the recent cancelation we have just used up seven days.

The boys’ basketball team has started the season off with an 18 game winning streak. They won the Tip-off Classic against Van Wert to begin the season. They are 5-0 in the NWC conference with quality wins over Ada, Lincolnview, Spencerville, Allen East, and Delphos Jefferson. The team had two really tight games at Wayne Trace and at Celina but came out with a win in both by two. The Knights got two great wins over very good teams which were the LCC Thunderbirds State ranked #3 in Division III and Arlington Red Devils whom were also State ranked. The Knights are now ranked #1 in the Division IV State poll. The Knights coasted through last weekend’s opponents with a 40 point victory over Allen East and a 30 point victory over the #7 ranked team in Division IV, Wayne Trace. Upcoming schedule for the Knights this weekend, as they travel on the road Friday against Bluffton and Saturday against New Knoxville.

Sophomore guard Connor Lautzenheiser said, “This team is really fun to play with since we all get along like a family, and we have really had such a great start to the season I hope we keep it going.”

The girls’ basketball team has had a good start to their season as well. They have a record of 19-1 with their only loss coming against the Van Wert Cougars in the Tip-off Classic championship game. The Lady Knights are 7-0 in NWC conference and a win over Bluffton will secure the NWC Championship for the Lady Knights. The Lady Knights are ranked 12th in the latest Division IV State poll. The Lady Knights will finish up their season with Bluffton tonight.

Senior guard Courtney Grote said, “Our season is going pretty well although we had an early loss to Van Wert but we have really worked hard and improved since then.”

Crestview’s scholastic bowl team recently just competed at Ada and ended up with a 3-2 record. The Knights traveled to Van Wert to compete in another tournament and ended the day with a record of 4-2.

Senior Scott Miller said, “We are not doing as well as we did last year but we still won the conference, but we have made progress in the tournaments as the year goes on.”
