Knights outlast Paulding in NWC tilt

The Crestview Knights used balanced scoring to defeat Northwest Conference rival Paulding 49-39 on Tuesday.

The Knights had four players in double figures, led by Damian Helm’s 14 points. Tyson Bolenbaugh added 11 points for Crestview, while Cam Etzler and Connor Lautzenheiser each added 10 points for the Knights. No Panther was in double figures, although Kyle Kauser, who led Paulding, scored 9 points in the game and two other players had 8 points.

Crestview did just a little big better than the Panthers in each quarter, starting with a 13-10 first quarter. The Knights outscored Paulding 11-9 in the second quarter for a five-point lead, 24-19, at the half.

Crestview led by nine, 36-27, after three quarters, and finished the Panthers off with a 13-12 final quarter.

With the win, the Knights remain perfect at 19-0 overall and 6-0 in the Northwest Conference. Paulding drops to 13-5 overall and 3-3 in league play.

Crestview will next play Friday night at Bluffton against the Pirates.
