Marsh School Principal Roger Salisbury welcomed the board at the meeting, which was held in the Marsh library, and also gave an annual report on activities at the Marsh School. The board also welcomed new board member Scott Miller, who was attending his first meeting since his election in November 2013. Miller had to miss the January meeting because of illness.

The board also accepted the resignations of sixth grade teacher Patricia Morris, who was retiring after 35 years of service at Lincolnview, and intervention specialist Marilyn Agler, who has 27 years of service in the Lincolnview Local School District. Snyder thanked both teachers, whose resignations are effective May 31, for their dedicated service to Lincolnview.

Seven Lincolnview first-graders were also at the meeting to read from books they wrote and illustrated. The students, who included Lily Wyatt and Allie Miller in Patti Cox’s class; Olivia Snyder, Emma Bowersock and Kreston Tow in Kris Tow’s class; and Jack Snyder and Maddie Gerdeman in Liz Gerdeman’s class, also presented copies of their books to the board.

Snyder talked about the increased cost of snow removal this year over recent years, and also noted that the district has used three more calamity days than the five authorized by the state. One of those days would be made up this coming Monday, which is Presidents Day, while the other two days would be tacked on to the end of the school year.

Students will also miss this Friday, which is an authorized waiver day being used for staff development.

The board also learned about the “Beyond the Classroom” business symposium being held at Vantage Career Center from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. April 8. The goal of the luncheon meeting is to bring area employers together with Lincolnview, Wayne Trace, Paulding and Crestview school officials to create a network that would hopefully increase employment prospects for local students.

The board also adopted a resolution proclaiming next week “National FFA Week.” Two Lincolnview FFA members, Bryce Campbell and Jacob Gibson, were on hand to address the board.

In other news, the board:

  • Approved the following personnel actions:
  • Authorized the following unpaid voluntary assistant coaches for spring sports: Todd Fox and Jeremy Ebel (baseball), Al Arnold, Sabrina Barnhart, and Daryl Dowdy (track), and Calli Coppus (softball).
