At the Wassenberg Camera Club’s last meeting, it was announced that on Thursday, Feb. 20, the Fort Wayne Photography Club would sponsor a program by two professional photographers, Steve Vorderman and Tim Brumbeloe, who would highlight their travel experiences around the world and emphasize a fine art approach to travel photography. Officers Stuart Jewett and Rex Dolby attended the meeting, which was held in the Townhouse Retirement Community on St. Joe Center Road in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Vorderman could not attend the meeting due to conflicts with his work schedule.

Brumbeloe stated that he’d been to Italy approximately 25 times, and with his knowledge of the language and best places to shoot, the two plan to organize shooting tours of the country. It was difficult for him to provide costs for the trip because the number who signed up would determine how much transportation, food and lodging would be needed. Until those details are established, he suggested that anyone interested in going, keep checking his web site athttp://www.brumbeloefineart.com for more information.

He said that it is the income from his commercial photography business that finances his travel and fine art photography. He assembles such photos as buildings, entrances, steps, and alleyways into a street scene. Some times he combines mirror images to create an entirely different effect. He observed that when he first started, he created what he thought other people wanted to see, but he found a wider acceptance of his work when he started creating how he wanted it to look. Brumbeloe has exhibited his work in galleries along with other artists as well as provided one-man shows.

The Fort Wayne Photography Club will continue to hold FREE workshops on the third Thursday of each month. http://www.fwphotoclub.com/pages/calendar.html The workshop on March 20 will be Macro Photography: Arduino Tricks & Photography Tips – by Larry Kilgore, a presentation on macro photography techniques and the use of external devices and props to assist in macro photography. This is a hands-on workshop where you bring your camera and best macro lens. Anyone coming with a camera needs to sign up, so they will know how many to prepare for.  Anyone who would like to attend, meet in the parking lot just across the creek on East Central Avenue from the Wassenberg Art Center at 6 p.m.

The Wassenberg Camera Club will next meet on Thursday, March 13, at 7 p.m. at the Wassenberg Art Center.  More details on that meeting will be published later.

The Wassenberg Art Center is located at 214 S. Washington St. (former Van Wert Armory). For information on the Camera Club, call 419.238.6837, e-mail info@wassenbergartcenter.org, or visit the website at wassenbergartcenter.org. Hours during exhibits are Tuesday through Sunday, 1-5 p.m.
