Crestview girls advance to district finals

LIMA — The Crestview Lady Knights are headed to the Division IV district finals after a 56-42 win over Pandora-Gilboa’s Lady Rockets on Thursday.
The Knights got off to a good start, outscoring Pandora-Gilboa 14-4 in the first quarter to take a 10-point lead in the game. The Rockets shaved a point off that lead in the second quarter with an 18-17 point run and trailed by nine points, 31-22, at the half.
The Knights went on a 12-8 run in the third quarter to go up by 13, 43-30, heading into the final quarter, and stayed ahead of P-G 13-12 in that period for the final 14-point margin of victory.
Lindsey Motycka led Crestview with 17 points, while Emily Bauer scored 14 counters and Terra Crowle added 12 points – all on three-pointers – for the Lady Knights. Megan Maag led the Lady Rockets – and all scorers – with 18 points, while Hunter Hermiller added 11 points and Olivia Maag scored 9 points for Pandora-Gilboa.
The Lady Knights shot well from the field, canning 18 of 38 (47.4 percent), while Pandora-Gilboa made 16 of 50 (32 percent) field goal attempts.
Crestview was 12 of 18 from the free-throw line (66.7 percent), while the Rockets made 7 of 9 free throw attempts (77.8 percent).
The Knights dominated on the boards, bringing down 30 rebounds to 18 for Pandora-Gilboa, while the Rockets had the edge in turnovers, losing the ball just 10 times, versus 15 for Crestview.
The Knights, now 22-1 on the year, advance to play Leipsic, which defeated Ottoville 47-44 in district semifinal play, this coming Saturday. That game will be played at 7 p.m. at Lima Senior High School.
