Concerts to raise $$ for Christmas Garden
Van Wert independent/submitted information
Beginning in April, the Christmas Garden Lighting Committee will be hosting concerts in the Children’s Garden at Smiley Park as fundraisers. The proceeds from all shows will go into the Christmas Garden fund and be used for lights, Christmas gifts for area youths and candy canes.

On Thursday, April 10, Cary Cooper of Dallas, Texas, will be in the garden promoting her brand new CD Zuzu’s Petals. The CD is filled with gorgeous melodies and an incredible vibe. It is hard to listen to this record without having one of the tunes stick in one’s head for a long time. A master of the details of everyday life, Cooper has real winners in such songs as “Charlie Brown Kinda Day” and “Little Things.” Showtime is 7:30 p.m.
On Saturday, August 2, the brother-sister super duo SaMaX, of Lima, will be doing a benefit concert in the Children’s Garden at 8 p.m. The duo is comprised of Samantha and Max Ratzinger. Sam is a senior at Lima Bath, while Max is a student at Ohio Northern University. They have performed all over northwest Ohio and are a lot of fun. This will be their third time performing in Van Wert and they have already built up a great fan base here.
On Friday, September 5, the Kelley McRae duo from North Carolina will be performing in the Children’s Garden at 8 p.m. They also will be promoting their fantastic new CD, Brighter than the Blues. Their songs are crafted with intricate attention and the kind of deep personal reflection that few people achieve in a lifetime — and fewer songwriters are able to make manifest in their words.
What’s more, her talents are not limited to those of a wordsmith or musical arranger, but she is blessed with a voice perfectly suited to bring her creations to life. This album showcases all of these talents and demonstrates once again that Kelley McRae is among the best singer-songwriters in America today.”
Tickets for all shows are $10 and can be purchased at the show or on our website at www.visionarypromotions.org. This is a great way to support a community project so bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the show.
Come out and support this community project by buying a ticket and hearing some great music in a beautiful location.
