Knights begin March madness
By Daniel Joseph
Crestview students went to school from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Last Saturday, school was in session for everyone as a makeup day due to all of the school closings that the district has faced this winter.
The night before the make-up day, the boys’ basketball team faced off against the Fort Jennings Musketeers Friday and came away with a 69-29 victory. They faced the Columbus Grove Bulldogs Tuesday night at the Elida Field House in the district-semifinal game.
“Going 22-0 in the regular season gave our team confidence heading into the tournament,” said senior Tyson Bolenbaugh. “But right now the regular season does not mean anything. Our team put the regular season behind us, and we’re taking it one game at a time.”
Last Saturday night, the Lady Knights faced off against the Leipsic Vikings at Lima Senior High School in the district final game and came away with a 41-33. They played without junior guard, Kennis Mercer, due to an ACL tear that she suffered during the district-semi game versus Pandora Gilboa. Tonight the ladies face off against the Holgate Tigers tonight at the Elida Field House with tip scheduled for approximately 8 p.m.
Though Crestview students were in session last Saturday, the Knight Vision and Jazz Band still performed at East Noble High School in Kendaville, Indiana. The choir placed 14th in the small mixed division. “Wow”, said senior Riley Guest. “It’s really over. After four years of hard work and dedication to the group, I won’t be on a stage performing for scores ever again.”
The seniors leave for Chicago on Monday for their senior trip. There is a busy agenda planned for the seniors next Monday and Tuesday. “I think the seniors will really enjoy seeing the big city,” said senior government teacher Tess Jeffries. “I am most looking forward to our tour of the criminal courts building! I think it will be very exciting!”
While the seniors are in Chicago, the freshmen and sophomores will be taking their practice OGT’s and OGT’s respectively, back at school.
