DJFS offers heating bill assistance

Just a reminder that the Van Wert County Department of Job and Family Services is offering a one-time heating payment for income eligible working families with dependent children.

Families may apply for payment of an outstanding bill for their primary heating source. Payment will be made directly to the utility company for the amount due, up to $500.

VWCJFSD income guidelines table 2-2014Application period is now until the close of business on April 11, or until funds are exhausted. The project funding is limited to $75,000.

Criteria for the heating payment is as follows:

  • At least one parent or guardian of a dependent child in the household must be working.
  • The bill must be in the name of the applicant.
  • A face-to-face interview is not required.

Applications are available at the Job and Family Services front desk during regular business hours: 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Additional PRC eligibility requirements and income guidelines apply (see table at right).
