Vera Ellen Huffman

Vera Ellen Huffman, 89, of North Manchester, Ind., and formerly of Clearwater, Fla., Lima and Mendon, died Saturday, March 15, 2014, in North Manchester.

She was born March 25, 1924, in Neptune, the daughter of the late Floyd George and Doris Loree (Harruff) Young. On August 15, 1942, she married William Ream Huffman, who preceded her in death in 1994.

Survivors include two children, William Lee (Darlene) Huffman of Jacksonville, Fla., and Rebecca Loreee Huffman of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three grandsons; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Suzanne (Don) Bauman of Mount Gilead; two sisters-in-law, Betty Lou Young of Celina and Ruthann Huffman McCullough of Arlington, Texas; and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and a cousin.

A daughter, Judith Lynn; one sister, June Davis; and a brother, Richard Lee Young, also preceded her in death.

A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Chip Steffy officiating. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery.

Calling hours are an hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Visiting Nurse Hospice Care of Fort Wayne, Ind., or Timbercrest Senior Living Facility in North Manchester, Ind.
