8 girls compete for Peony queen crown

Eight area high school senior girls will compete for the title of Queen Jubilee XXXIX when the annual Peony Festival Pageant takes place this Friday, starting at 7:30 p.m., in the Marsh Foundation Auditorium.

This year’s candidates include:

Chelsea Hancock, the daughter of Eric and Danille Hancock, represents Crestview High School. Chelsea is involved in several extra-curricular activities, including Pleasantview Church youth group, 4-H Ohio Challengers, a violinist in the Grand Lake Orchestra, cross country, Knight Vision show choir, National Honor Society and band. In her spare time she enjoys painting, cooking and watching movies. After high school she plans on attending the University of Toledo majoring in pharmacy.

Mackenzie Haney, daughter of Jeff Haney, represents Wayne Trace High School. Mackenzie enjoys jazz dance at Kim Hohman DanceWorks, cheer, National Honor Society and is involved in 4-H. In her spare time she enjoys reading and going to the movies with her friends. After high school she plans on attending Miami University majoring in pre-medicine.

Tori Suever, daughter of Matt and Terri Suever, represents Delphos Jefferson High School. Tori enjoys jazz dance at Dancer by Gina and is involved in the Delphos United Methodist Church youth group, cheerleading and as a Junior Optimist. In her spare time she likes to go to the movies with her friends. After high school she will attend Otterbein University majoring in early childhood education.

Rachel Nicelley, daughter of Roger and Jenifer Nicelley, represents Paulding High School. Rachel is a 4-H science Olympiad, varsity golfer, scholar-athlete and a member of the drama department. She likes to watch movies, sew and go bowling. After school she will attend Ohio State University majoring in pre-medicine.

Cheyenne Stant, daughter of Shad and Dawn Stant, represents Parkway High School. Cheyenne dances at Kim Hohman’s DanceWorks and her favorite dance is clog. She is a National Honor Society member and reporter, works at Kroger’s and enjoys shopping with her friends. After high school she plans to attend Ball State University majoring in special education.

Amberlyn Miller, daughter of Amos Miller and Verna Landwehr, represents Lincolnview High School. Amberlyn cheers, is a member of the Firehouse youth group, Select Choir, and Beta and French clubs. She loves to read, sing and work at Subway. After high school she plans on majoring in early childhood education.

Elizabeth Griffin, the daughter of Robert and Janis Griffin, represents Spencerville High School. Elizabeth is involved in her youth group at Spencerville Nazarene Church and in the praise band. She also is in the pep band, track, SADD, Student Council and choir. In her spare time she likes to listen to music and crochet. After high school she plans on attending Mount Vernon Nazarene University majoring in early childhood development, with a minor in voice.

Claire Gamble, daughter of Jay Gamble and Tonia Gamble, represents Van Wert High School. Claire is president of her 4-H club, the Clever Clovers. She also plays volleyball, piano, likes to read and “hang with her friends”. After high school, she plans on majoring in finance.
