Lancer 9 edged by Fort Recovery squad

Lincolnview varsity baseball

FORT RECOVERY — Lincolnview pitcher Eli Farmer pitched a five-hitter, but the Lancer offense stayed home as Fort Recovery edged the Lancers 2-1 in a non-conference baseball game played at Fort Recovery.

Lincolnview drew first blood, scoring its only run in the top of the first inning, but the Indians scored a run in both the fifth and sixth innings to get the win.

Jalen Roberts was the top offensive player for the Lancers, going 2 of 3 in the game, while Conner McCleery was 1 of 3 and Austin Leeth went 1 for 4 ad scored Lincolnview’s only run.

Both of Fort Recovery’s runs were earned, while Farmer also walked three and struck out three.

Lincolnview Coach Kevin Longstreth had praise for Farmer’s pitching efforts, but said the Lancer offense has to improve if the team is to reach its potential.

“Eli Farmer remained as consistent as he finished last year,” Longstreth said. “He threw six innings and gave up five hits.

“We need to do a better job of giving him run support,” Coach Longstreth added. “I challenged our hitters to improve offensively from last year and will see how they respond. If we can score five to six runs a game, and pitch and field as well as we have proven, we can be a good team.”
