CORS to celebrate ‘Week of Young Child’
Council on Rural Services information
Each year as April rolls around, the Kids Learning Place centers celebrate “Week of the Young Child” by planning special activities and re-committing to the goal of improving the lives of children and their families.
Kids Learning Place uses the week of April 6-12 to focus the public’s attention on young children and their families in many ways. But all community members must embrace their children’s education as a high priority; they must do more to ensure there are opportunities for every child to experience an early education environment – at home, at child care, at school and in a community that helps all children succeed.

Everyone can make a difference in small ways that could have an inspiring effect on children in great ways; share one’s interests, culture, or talents in a classroom or volunteer to read with children. The Council on Rural Services encourages community members to become involved in programs that support young children during this important time in their lives of becoming lifelong learners.
Kids Learning Place designs their early education programs to promote school readiness by providing high-quality learning experiences that include teachers with degrees in every classroom, using a research based curriculum, and encouraging parent participation. Council on Rural Services and Kids Learning Place want to also take this time to recognize their early education staff, which significantly contributes to the quality of services provided to program families. Their commitment, vision, and determination with children and families push the program to its highest levels.
CORS is proud that the Kids Learning Place Education and Child Care centers in Van Wert County have earned the four-star “Step Up To Quality” award from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services that recognizes programs that exceed licensing standards in education, staff training, and staff qualifications. CORS’ centers are the only highest rated “four” star programs in the county.
Early childhood education is vital to communities; children need strong early learning foundations. Because of this, school readiness and the well-being of each child is the primary goal for Kids Learning Place.
CORS believes building partnerships builds strong children, strong families, strong communities and most important — opportunities for children to succeed in school and life.
Besides private childcare, all the Kids Learning Place centers are actively recruiting children to attend the Head Start preschool program in the fall of 2014. For children ages 3-5 whose families are income eligible, this high-quality preschool program would be provided at no cost for the family.
