Brumback celebrates special library week

Brumback Library in Van Wert and its branch libraries will celebrate “National Library Week” the week of April 13-19. This year’s theme, entitled “Lives Change at Your Library,” seeks to recognize the contributions of the nation’s libraries, while also promoting library use and support.

National Library Week began in 1958 as an event sponsored by the American Library Association. Each year, a variety of programs and activities are held at libraries across the United States to celebrate the resources, activities, and services offered by libraries to the public.

Several activities and events have been planned at the main library in Van Wert and at each of the five branch sites in conjunction with the weeklong celebration. A schedule of activities includes the following:

MONDAY, APRIL 14

  • 1:30 p.m. – Early Childhood Center Story Time
  • 6 p.m. – Infant and Toddler Story Time
  • 6:30 p.m. Family Story Time
  • Walk-in Easter crafts offered throughout the day in the library’s Children’s Department

Willshire Branch

  • 5-8 p.m. – Open house
  • 6 p.m. – Children’s Story Time

TUESDAY, APRIL 15

Main Library

  • 10 a.m. – Infant and Toddler Story Time
  • 10:30 a.m. – Preschool Story
  • 1:30 p.m. – Early Childhood Center Story Time
  • 4:30-6 p.m. National Library Week-Children’s Party for ages Infants through 6th Grade (pre-registration required)
  • Walk-in Easter crafts offered throughout the day in the Children’s Department

Middle Point Branch

  • 6-7:30 p.m. – Open House
  • 6:30 p.m. – Story Time

Ohio City Branch

  • 5:30-7:30 p.m. – Open House
  • 6:30 p.m. – Family Story Time

Wren Branch

  • 4-8 p.m. – Open House
  • 6 p.m. – Children’s Story Time
