Crestview celebrates success

By Dylan Henry

Here at Crestview the spring sport season is starting off pretty well for all the athletes. The baseball team who is coming off a great run in the state tournament has started off the season 5-0 with wins over St. Johns, Fort Jennings,  Lincolnview, and a double header win over Kalida.  A win over Kalida, gave Coach Wharton his 500th career win. Some other history that comes with that win is that there are a few of the current players’ fathers that were on the team when Coach Wharton won his first game.

Senior, Brock Rolsten, said, “It felt good knowing that you were a part of something big being his 500th win when many coaches won’t reach that amount of wins. It feels good knowing that I impacted the game and was able to help him achieve that amount of wins. Also it’s very unique that my dad was on the team when he won his first career game and it shows how great the baseball tradition that we have here at Crestview.”

More in spring sports, the track team recently won its meet against LCC on Saturday April 12. The boys won their portion of the meet with a score of 89-42.

Recently there was a team from Crestview that went to Columbus to compete in a Personal Finance Challenge. The team had to compete in a quiz bowl style of questioning over personal finance. After the competition was over the team then went on a tour of the state house. Team members were Tanner Skelton, Kameron Grubaugh, Lucas Gibson and Scott Miller.

Senior Lucas Gibson, member of the team said, “It was a pretty fun experience, and I got to learn some history on the state house.”
