Charles R. “Dick” Say died at 7:13 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

He was born August 30, 1921, in Delphos, the son of the late J.H. and Elizabeth (Delaney) Say. On January 26, 1943, he married Mary (Pollock) Say, who survives him.

He is also survived by two sons, Rick (Linda) Say and Bob (Gina) Say, both of Van Wert. Also surviving are four grandchildren, American Flag for obituaries 6-2011Bart (Theresa) Say, Sarah (Matt) Sease, Amy (Tom) Williamson and Jeff Say; and seven great-grandchildren.

Dick was the founder, owner and operator of Van Wert Auto Inc. in Van Wert for many years. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, Knights of Columbus Council 6034, a life member of Lodge 1197, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks; a member of Van Wert Rotary Club; a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a graduate of Delphos St. John’s High School.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 28, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Fathers James Say and Stanley Szybka officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, where a parish vigil and Rosary service will follow.

Preferred memorials: St. Mary of the Assumption School.
