Don Owen Hutchison

Don Owen “Hutch” Hutchison, 80, of Scott, died at 12:17 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

He was born October 19, 1933, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Nolan and Geno (Goings) Hutchison. He married Ireta A. (Decker) Hutchison, who survives.

Other survivors include three children, Cheryl A. Winberg and Terry S. (Bruce) Gattshall, both of Van Wert, and Karen “Kay” (Ted) Rosswurm of Payne; eight grandchildren, Leslie (Craig) Roney of Lake Worth, Fla., Kimberly Fulford of Van Wert, Lindsay (Travis Doster) Winberg of Van Wert, Danielle (Miguel) Drewery of Fort Wayne, Ind., Patrick (Michelle) Gorman of Van Wert, Meghan M. Gorman of Columbus, and Heath (Megan) Rosswurm and Brooke (Zak) Price, both of Fort Wayne; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Justine (George Glick) Hutchison of Lake Worth, Fla., and Debra (Glen) Wilder of Decatur, Ind.

A grandson, Nathan Rosswurm; one great-granddaughter, Quinley Drewery; and a nephew, Jason Minck, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Hutchison was a 30-year employee of the former Borden’s Food Plant in Van Wert and retired from Haviland Drainage. He also was a former member of Scott Village Council, a longtime Wayne Trace supporters, a graduate of Grover Hill High School and a U.S. Army veteran.

“Hutch” loved his wife, children, grand- and great-grandchildren. Go Raiders!

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday, May 5, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Middle Creek Cemetery near Grover Hill.

Calling hours are from 2-4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
