Lancer track teams at New Bremen meet

NEW BREMEN — The Lancer varsity track teams competed in the New Bremen Cardinal Invitational on Friday night.  Highlights included a pair of first- and second-place finishes by leading scorers Hunter Blankemeyer and Bayley Tow.

Blankemeyer placed second in the 110-meter hurdles, but ran a season best time of 15.2 seconds, breaking his own school record. He then turned in a come-from-behind victory in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 41.4 seconds.

Blankemeyer also placed seventh in the high jump.

Tow also ran a season best in the 3200-meter run, placing second in a time of 10:02, just missing the school record by one second. He then won the 1600-meter run in a time of 4:34.

Also placing for the Lancers were Michael Garay in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Logan Jewel in the 100. The boys’ 4×800 relay placed second and the boys’ 4×100 relay placed fourth.

Leading the girls was a second place finish by Hannah McCleery in the high jump, Ashton Bowersock placed fifth in the 800 in a career best time, and the girls’ 4×800-meter relay team placed for the Lancers.
