Ohio City man sentenced on sex counts

Three people were sentenced and five others appeared on probation or treatment program violations during hearings held Tuesday in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court.

Harley Maroney, 18, of Ohio City, was given 12 months in prison each on two counts of gross sexual imposition, both felonies of the third degree. The sentences are to run concurrently, at the same time.

Maroney was also classified as a Tier 2 sex offender, meaning he must register with the county sheriff’s office where he lives, works or goes to school every 180 days for 25 years.

Stacy Young, 37, of Van Wert, was given three years of community control when sentenced Tuesday on a charge of possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony offense. She also had her driver’s license suspended for six months.

Terry Warren Jr., 27, of Van Wert, was given six months in prison on a charge of theft, a felony of the fifth degree. He was also found to be in violation of his post-release control from an earlier case and he was given another year in prison related to that violation, to be served consecutively to the six-month prison term.

Judge Charles D. Steele gave Warren credit for 23 days already served in connection with the theft case.

Shay Ringwald, 25, of Middle Point, was also sent to prison for 12 months after he admitted violating his probation by failing to report to probation, failing to pay his court obligations and failing to attend counseling at Westwood Behavioral Health Center.

Judge Steele also gave him credit for 233 days already served.

Shaun Duckett, 23, of Delphos, denied violating his probation by failing to report a contact with police, using prohibited drugs and failing to report to probation. He was ordered held without bond until a hearing set for May 20.

William Smith, 37, of Delphos, denied violating his probation by refusing treatment at the Western Ohio Regional Treatment and Habilitation (WORTH) Center in Lima. He was also ordered held without bond until a hearing set for May 20.

Tristan Boaz, 22, of Van Wert, had her treatment in lieu of conviction violation hearing continued to allow her another chance at treatment.

Zachary Baker, 27, of Van Wert, admitted violating his probation by failing to report to probation and by not reporting an address change. He was resentenced to three years of community control, with the addition of 26 days of electronically monitored house arrest, or jail if he doesn’t qualify for house arrest.
