D. Jean Long
D. Jean Long, 84, of Middle Point, went to be with her Lord at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014.
She was born March 24, 1930, in Grover Hill, the daughter of the late Lee Ross Sr. and Belva (Sherry) Ross. On May 22, 1948, she married Robert D. Long, who survives in Middle Point.

Other survivors include a son, Robert D. (Laurie) Long of Middle Point; three daughters, Sherry (Randy) Craig and Randi Wise, both of Van Wert, and Angela (Michael) Shellabarger of Middle Point; a sister, Ruth Crone of Grover Hill; nine grandchildren, Amber Walls, Bob Wise, Danielle Long, Codi Wise, Jerod Long, Luke Edwards, JaNahn Evans, Madison Adams and Justin Shellabarger; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A brother, Lee Ross Jr.; and one sister, Kathryn Marcile Jenkins, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Long retired as a secretary for P&L Fertilizer and Pure Line Food Company, and was also a homemaker. She was a member of Middle Point Presbyterian Church.
Jean was an amazing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She and her husband traveled to all 50 states and she truly enjoyed riding along with Bob in his semi. She had belonged to the Traveling Square Dancing Club, bowled, and played volleyball, but her favorite hobby was making her grandchildren feel special.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.
Calling hours are from 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 9, and an hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
