Grove edges Lancers in NWC baseball

COLUMBUS GROVE — The Columbus Grove Bulldogs edged Lincolnview 11-10 in a Northwest Conference game played Thursday at Columbus Grove.
The Lancers used three pitchers, with Austin Leeth taking the loss after one inning of work. Leeth gave up two runs, one of them earned, while allowing three hits and walking one. Starting pitcher Derek Youtsey went 4 1/3 innings and gave up five runs, three of those earned, while allowing eight hits, walking two and striking out two. Keli Ralston worked two-thirds of an inning and gave up four runs, all earned on one hit and three walks, while garnering three strikeouts.
Lincolnview was led offensively by Kyle Williams, who was 2 for 3 with a double, a home run and three RBI, while also scoring three runs during the game. Tyler Richey had a double and a triple while going 3 for 4 on the night, and scored three runs for the Lancers.
It was 1-all after one inning, while Columbus Grove led 2-1 after two. Lincolnview scored two in the top of the third to lead 3-2, but the Bulldogs tied it again in the bottom half of the third. The Lancers scored four runs in the fourth inning to go up 7-3, while Grove added single runs in the fourth and fifth to trail by two, 7-5 heading into the six inning.
The Bulldogs scored five runs in the fifth to grab the lead, 10-8, after Lincolnview scored another run in the fifth. The Lancers tied it again at 10-all in the top of the seventh, but Grove scored one more run in their half of the seventh to eke out the win.
