Knights finish 6th at Indiana track meet

BERNE, Ind. — The Crestview track teams competed with eight other schools in the South Adams (Ind.) Invitational held on Friday. After two delays because of lightning, the meet was canceled for the evening with both Knight boys and girls in sixth place.

The meet will not be rescheduled this year. Highlights for Crestview was a top seed for Zack Jellison in the 200-meter dash that wasn’t held because of the cancellation, a second-place finish by the 4×100-meter boys’ relay team (Jellison, Schaffner, Kline and Oliver), and third-place finishes for Malcolm Oliver in the long jump (18 feet, 9.5 inches) and Scott Miller in the shot-put (42 feet, 4 inches). The Knight boys did not compete in the 400-meter dash, 300-meter hurdles, 800-meter run, 200-meter dash, 3200-meter run and 4×400-meter relay. There were no pole vault or 4×200-meter relays at the meet.

For the girls, Grace Callow finished in first place in the 100-meter dash (13.25 seconds) and was also the No. 1 seed in the canceled 200-meter dash. Bekka Tracey finished in third place in the shot-put (31 feet, 10.5 inches).

Events canceled include the 400-meter dash, 300-meter hurdles, 800-meter run, 200-meter dash, 3200-meter run, and 4×400-meter relays.

This week, the Knight track teams will compete at the Northwest Conference Championship Meet, starting Thursday, while the Ohio High School Athletic Association sectional tournament will begin in two weeks. Both meets will be held at Spencerville High School.
