The Wassenberg Camera Club met Thursday, May 8, at the Wassenberg Art Center. Moving Water was the competition theme in prints and slides that evening. Joe Schramm won the print division with a fine photo taken in the Sidney city park. Tracy Sterling’s slide of the falls in West Milton won the slide division.

The club welcomed visitors Cheryl Knost of Cridersville and Cory Snyder of Convoy and thanks Shirley Soldner of Van Wert for her gift of a Fuji Discovery 975 Zoom film camera, which has a 35-80mm lens.

Following Karl Gribler’s treasurer’s report, club secretary, Rex Dolby closed the meeting with an illustrated presentation on Composition As It Relates to Photography. Dolby said basically, everything you see inside the four sides of your viewfinder when you trip the shutter, is your composition. It should convey a singular, understandable purpose. He then went on to itemize the various elements that either contribute to the composition of a good photograph or detract from it. These included: foregrounds and backgrounds, linear and aerial perspective, formal and informal balance, shadows and light, harmony, lines, and motion.
