3 sentenced in Common Pleas Court

Three people were sentenced and four others changed their pleas to various charges during hearings held Wednesday in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court.

Savannah Williams, 27, of Mendon, was sentenced to three years of community control, to include up to six months in the Western Ohio Regional Treatment and Habilitation (WORTH) Center in Lima, on a charge of attempted complicity in burglary, a felony of the third degree. Williams was also ordered to pay $524 in restitution to the victim in the case.

Tyler Mohr, 19, of Van Wert, was sentenced to three years of community control, along with up to six months at the WORTH Center, on a charge of grand theft, a third-degree felony offense.

Dennis Gallaspie, 65, of Lima, was given three years of community control, to include 30 days on electronically monitored house arrest, on a charge of trafficking in marijuana, a felony of the fifth degree. His driver’s license was also suspended for six months and a Honda Civic automobile and $214 in cash were ordered forfeited to law enforcement because they were found to be used in the commission of a felony offense.

Four other people changed their pleas to guilty as a result of plea negotiations. They include the following:

  • Chad Mcross, 19, of Van Wert, who changed his plea to guilty to a charge of breaking and entering, a felony of the fifth degree. A second count of receiving stolen property was dismissed in exchange for his plea on the breaking and entering charge. A presentence investigation was ordered by Judge Charles D. Steele, who also scheduled a sentencing hearing for 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 2.
  • Robert Delgado, 34, of Van Wert, entered a plea of guilty to one count of child endangering, a second-degree felony. A presentence investigation was ordered and sentencing set for 9 a.m. July 2.
  • Jeremiah Miller, 19, of Ohio City, changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of LSD, a felony of the third degree. Two other counts of trafficking in LSD were dismissed as part of the plea negotiation. A presentence investigation was ordered and he will appear for sentencing at 9 a.m. July 2.
  • Ryan Schaadt, 29, of Van Wert, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of possession of heroin, a felony of the fourth degree. Following completion of a presentence investigation, he will appear for sentencing at 9 a.m. July 2.

Also Wednesday, Ford Wilson, 30, of Van Wert, admitted to violating his probation by failing to report to his probation officer. The case was continued for a second hearing.

Two probation violation cases were also heard on Tuesday, May 20.

Shaun Duckett, 23, of Delphos, admitted to violating his probation by failing to report to a police contact, having drugs in his possession and failing to report to his probation officer. He was sentenced to 12 months in prison, with credit for 248 days already served.

William Smith, 37, of Delphos, admitted to violating his probation by refusing treatment at the WORTH Center in Lima. He was sentenced to nine months in prison, with credit given for 114 days already served.
