Knight track teams do well at districts

SPENCERVILLE – The Crestview High School boys’ and girls’ track and field teams competed in the Division IV district meet preliminary rounds on Thursday, along with 16 other schools.

Finals were held for five field events and two track events, with the finals today.

Top finishers for the Knight boys in the completed events include Scott Miller, fifth in the shotput (43 feet, 10.5 inches); Malcolm Oliver, fifth in the long jump (19 feet, 8.5 inches); and the 4×800-meter relay team (M. Grandstaff, D. Grandstaff, Thornburg, Gibson), seventh in 8:52.01.

Crestview boys’ seedings for Saturday’s events are as follows: 4×200-meter relay team (Hansard, Kline, Oliver, Jellison), 1:34.96 (third best time); Charles Thornburg, 1600-meter run, 5:01.06 (qualified for finals); 4×100-meter relay team (Cunningham, Oliver, Jellison, Kline), 45.48 seconds (tied-second best time); Isaiah Kline, 400-meter dash, 52.04 seconds (best overall time); Michael Hansard, 400-meter dash, 55.57 seconds (eighth best time); Zack Jellison, 200-meter dash, 23.10 seconds (tied-third best time); Mycah Grandstaff, 3200-meter run, 9:38.38 (automatic finals from sectional); Charles Thornburg, 3200-meter run, 11:14.61 (automatic finals); 4×400-meter relay team, 3:35.48 (second best time).

Top finishers for the Lady Knights in completed events include Bekka Tracey, discus, fifth place (100 feet, 3 inches).

Top seeds for Saturday’s events are as follows: Grace Callow, 100-meter dash, 13.11 seconds (third best time); Grace Callow, 400-meter dash, 1:03.07 (second best time); Grace Callow, 200-meter dash, 27.71 seconds (fourth best time); Brooke Ripley, 3200-meter run, 14:26.49 (automatic finals); Hali Finfrock, 3200-meter run, 14:59.11 (automatic finals).
