Annabelle (Thatcher) Johns
Annabelle (Thatcher) Johns, 93, of Van Wert, died at 8:27 a.m. Sunday, June 1, 2014, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

She was born February 24, 1921, in Jackson Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Elvin “Mike” Thatcher and Clema (Ashbaugh) Thatcher Zaner. In April 1941, she married Melvin “Johnny” Johns, who passed away in 1976.
Survivors include two children, Phyllis (William) Etzler Davis-Kill and Carolyn Sue (George) Johns Mosier Noggle, both of Van Wert; two stepchildren, Ruby Joanne Johns Anderson of Aurora, Colorado, and Kathryn (Jack) Johns Willis of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina; a brother, Floyd Thatcher of rural Middle Point; one sister, Marilyn (Charles) Jones of Antwerp; four grandchildren, Val Davis of Loveland, Colorado, Kris (Barry) Craft, Ed (Barb) Mosier, and Tony (Lisa) Noggle, all of Van Wert; four stepgrandchildren, George (Shelly) Noggle, Jeff (Deb) Kill, Sharon (Dan Shannon) Kill Lange and Jennifer (Jeff) Kill Deiter; six great-grandchildren, Ashley Craft, Brittany Craft, Lindsey Mosier, Brad Mosier, Colin Mosier and Tyler Lloyd; several stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, Hendrix Mosier; and many nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, Charles, Glenn and Harold Thatcher; and one sister, Ruth Prator; also preceded her in death.
She was a private home healthcare provider for many years who retired at 84 years of age. Prior to that, she was employed by The Marsh Foundation Seed House, St. Marys Canning Factory, Borden’s Cheese and the Van Wert County Home.
She was a 70-year member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Van Wert and attended Hoaglin-Jackson School.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 5, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Will Haggis officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.
Calling hours are from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Preferred memorial: St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Van Wert.
