OFFD Mule & Donkey Show coming up
Old Fashioned Farmers Days information
It is June and the Old Fashioned Farmers Mule Donkey and Mini Horse Show is fast approaching. Activities begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 5, at the Van Wert County Fairgrounds. Mini horses have been added to this year’s show, which anyone (young or old) can enter. Get a pet from the field and place it in the show. Entry fee is only $2 per class.

This is a fun show! There will be a few halter and driving classes for mule, donkey and mini horse, but the fun begins with a Dinner Bell Race that is more fun than the Kentucky Derby (and it will probably last longer). Also, the costume class is back with animals dressed in wild and crazy costumes. In the past, animals have been dressed as clowns and ladies in beautiful dresses, while this year’s entrants already include an Ohio State University cheerleader. There will also be the coon jump and a chicken race.
During the show there will be a silent auction, with articles for sale not just for mule, donkey or mini horse owners, but for the public as well. Money generated from the auction goes toward the 2015 show. Contributions are welcome on the morning of the auction.
There will be a tent set up for shade, but those attending will need to bring their own lawn chairs. Bleachers and picnic tables are also available.
After a fun filled day with mules, donkeys and mini horses, visit the other attractions on the grounds and get a head start on good fair food for the year.
