2014 Lambert Days activities announced

OHIO CITY — The Ohio City Park Board is happy to announce that its has finalized the annual Lamber Days schedule of events. The community festival is in its 46th year and this year promises to be the biggest yet.

There will be community garage sales early Thursday, July 17 .The pageant will begin the festivities at 7 that evening and is open to the public at the Community Building.

Friday begins with a flea market and vender show from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and a communitywide garage sales that will go on throughout the weekend. A steak dinner at the Community Building will begin at 4 p.m. with carryout available.

At 5 that evening, American Legion “Harvey Lewis” Post 346 will have a flag raising ceremony, while at the same time, the inflatable equipment and games will begin. At 5:30, the annual Wiffleball homerun derby contest will be held.

A Texas hold ‘em poker tournament, with Monte Carlo, will begin at 8 p.m.. At 9,  there with be two areas of entertainment, with Henry “Pitbull” Rife jumping in the front ball diamond and local rock band Endever performing as well. ID bracelets will be available. Returning this year by popular demand will be a fireworks display, starting at 10:15 p.m. Friday.

Saturday starts with men’s softball at 8 a.m. and coed volleyball starting at 9 Saturday morning. The flea market and vendor show will take place from 9 a.m-9 p.m. and the Wiffleball tournament starts at 10 that morning. The kids’ games and inflatables open at 11 a.m. and a cornhole tournament and a 3-on-3 basketball tournament will start at 1 Saturday afternoon.

The Community Building will be offering a hog roast dinner at 4 p.m., along with entertainment from the band Samax. Bingo will be offered at the building starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, while Sean Wise and the Bad Attitude Band will perform Country music starting at 9 that night, with a movie for the kids at dusk.

The vendor show continues at 10 a.m. Sunday, along with registration for the car show. A chicken dinner will be available at the Community Building at 11 a.m., with dinner music provided by Triad. At noon, the kids’ inflatable and games and the car show will take place, while, at 3 p.m., the biggest parade in the county, the 2014 Lambert Days Parade, will take place with all units finishing at the park.

Lambert Days is always the third weekend in July. This year the dates are July 17-20. For more information or event applications find the event on Facebook or at www.lambertdays.com.
