YWCA sets pig races during VW Rib Fest
YWCA of Van Wert County information
Interested in having some good, clean, family-friendly fun this summer? Those who are should come on down to the 2014 Van Wert Rib Fest and “wallow” around with the YWCA during its third annual Pig Races.

During the Pig Races, held Saturday, August 9, at 4:30 p.m.. in the covered show arena at Van Wert County Fairgrounds, area residents will witness six races showcasing some of the areas most talented, — and very adorable — pigs.
Each group of pigs will battle it out for first place in their heat and for bragging rights of fastest “Piglet Porker.” This is sure to be a fun family event, or a fun guys’ or girls’ night out!
Each race is comprised of 10 pigs, all of which have “designer” names and sponsors. Participants will have the opportunity to place a $2 wager on the pig, or pigs, of their choice, and all payouts will be made at the close of each race.
Those who would like to try their luck even further can find a YWCA volunteer walking the event and purchase 50/50 tickets. All proceeds of this “Pig Spectacular” event will support the YWCA Transitional Living Program for the homeless, as well as YWCA Domestic Violence Services (call 419.238.6639 for more information).
General operating hours of the YWCA are Monday-Thursday, 6:30 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday, 6:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; closed Saturday and Sunday. The YWCA is a United Way and Van Wert County Foundation funded agency.
