Charles Henry Fast

Charles Henry Fast, 89, of Haviland, died Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Glenn Park of Defiance.

He was born June 5, 1925, in Paulding County, the son of the late William C. and Marie H. (Stiebeling) Fast. On February 23, 1947, he married June (Gerber) Fast, who preceded him in death on October 19, 2009.

Mr. Fast was a lifetime self-employed farmer who retired in 2012. He was a member of John Paulding Historical Society, Gideons International and member of the former Baptist Church of Haviland.

Survivors include a son, Robert (Jan) Fast of Sanford, Florida; one daughter, Barbara (Seth) Shelton of Shelby, North Carolina; a brother, William (Gloria) Fast of Haviland; two sisters, Barbara (Richard) Reichter of Andover, Maryland, and Marie (Mike) Baughman of Columbia, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Angela Myers and Joshua (Heather) Shelton; and three great-grandchildren, Brady, Alyson and Blake Shelton.

A brother, John, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, at Den Herder Funeral Home in Paulding, with Pastor Joe Shouse officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Creek Cemetery in Haviland.

Calling hours are from 5-9 p.m. Monday, July 14, and an hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.
